John has decided it is time to come home. At around 10:30pm or so, an ambulance will take him from Cleveland to their home in Ashtabula County.
John & Jessica received word today that his only kidney was beginning to fail, and the infection was most likely progressing in his body. He would have to be on dialysis and the surgeries would continue to try to get ahead of the infection. There was great fear in the possibility they would not be able to get John off the ventilator and if they could not, he could never come home, regardless of how bad it got. John has said from the very beginning he did not want to die at the Clinic. When the options were laid out for him, he told Jessica it was time to go home.
Hospice will be at the house with him and he wants to see everyone that wants to visit. Please call Jessica ahead of time so that they can expect you.
His boys from Sts. John & Paul are heading over tomorrow along with many friends and family. We are all taking this very hard, especially after what seemed to be a successful surgery Tuesday night and of course the Gator win last night. He did speak to Coach Meyer this afternoon when the decision to come home was made.
Jessica and I will keep you updated as events unfold. Hopefully by tomorrow, she and John will have a better idea of what is ahead.
The support and adoration for John has been amazing and you have helped the family so much with your thoughts and prayers. This is going to be a tough week and the support is needed more than ever. John will be much happier to be home with Jessica and his dogs, surrounded by friends and family.
We will update you tomorrow. God bless you all, and may He hold John and his family in His hands.

The fight and determination you have shown is an inspiration to all. The hand you were dealt should never be faced by anyone, but the courage and dignity in which this battle is being fought is motivation to keep reaching out to others and share the goodness in your hearts. I have known John since he was not much bigger than a munchkin, one of my sons best friends growing up. This is truly a sad time as John has always been the most decent, kindest individual I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. All my prayers to the entire buskirk family.
May God continue to give you all, as much strength as you need.
John and Jessica....although i didn't get the chance to meet Jessica, I've known John and his brother Bill since they were young.I never thought that one day one of them would face such a horrible disease, not once, but 3 times, no one should have to do that, especially no one so young, especially newly married, but thru it all both of you have faced it with grace, dignity, and courage, but most of all love. You both are truly an inspiration to me. God be with you, you are in my thoughts and prayers daily,
Mrs.Linda Cieslak

Jess:
Jan just called me. My prayers and thoughts are with you. You are a real trooper and I admire your strength, courage and love. I am so sorry to hear that John has passed. Truly he is going Home. We'll all see him when it is our time. In the meantime, I will continue to participate in TNT so that one day no more John's will have to go through what John has gone through and that no more loved ones will have to experience what you and your families have experienced. That Coach Urban and Tim Tebow would call in the midst of thier most important game is testament to the greatness of John. All of the posts that I have read are testament to John AND TO YOU; the love you shared; the visions that you have had and the love that you and John spread to so many others.
God Bless you. Gos Bless John, your families, your extended families and friends,
Peace & Love,
